Why we might place temporary restrictions on record applications and other GWR operations

Our mission is to champion amazing achievements and give everyone, everywhere the chance to experience the thrill and wonder of record breaking. However, we may occasionally need to place temporary restrictions on record applications, attempts and other GWR operations.

We may do this in order to:

  • Protect the safety and wellbeing of record attempters, participants, spectators and our own personnel
  • Maintain our stance of political neutrality
  • Ensure that record-breaking, which is inherently celebratory, is carried out in a way that is appropriate
  • Adhere to the law or wider restrictions imposed on businesses
  • Conduct further due diligence as necessary

Any such restrictions are intended to be temporary in nature, are kept under regular review and will be communicated to partners and applicants where appropriate.
