In July 2008 researchers at the University of Delft, Netherlands, unveiled the DelFly Micro. The dragonfly-shaped prototype aerial drone weighs just 3 grams and has a wingspan of 10 cm (4 in). It carries a camera that transmits live video to a controller on the ground. The camera and transmitter weigh 0.4 g and the onboard lithium ion battery can keep the plane flying for up to three minutes.
