Proving just how powerful a celebrity’s group of fans can be, diehard followers of Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar showed their passion isn't just large – when it came to showing support towards their idol, it was literally the largest.

A group of fans that run the prominent fan club "TeamAkshay" on various social networking sites made history on October 3, 2013, when they unveiled the largest poster ever made, covering an area of 3,234.31 m² (34,814.19 ft²).

The poster was produced to promote the release of the Akshay Bollywood film, "Boss." The achievement topped the previous record, held by Sony Music UK to promote the Michael Jackson album “Michael,” by the considerable margin of 526.76 m² (5,670 ft²).

"It’s a great feeling to be breaking a record formerly held by ‘The King of Pop’ Michael Jackson!" Kumar said. "I am grateful to my fans for this unique gesture which speaks volumes about their eternal love and support. God bless them all.”

The poster measured 58.87 m (193 ft 1 in) wide and 54.94 m (180 ft 2 in) high. It was made out of mesh PVC and took 30 hours to print. Weighing in at approximately 1.4 metric tonnes (3,086 lb), the poster required a team of 10 simply to unravel.

Wanting to show support for their man in an "extraordinary and creative" way, organizers for TeamAkshay decided on the larger-than-life poster world record. Taking nearly seven months to construct, the poster was created in partnership with Macro Art Ltd, a UK-based printing company. The poster was unveiled at Little Gransden Airfield in Cambridgeshire, UK.

“We are honored and thrilled to break the world record and make our idol Akshay Kumar proud of his ace fan club," Team Akshay released in a statement. "The only aim to be breaking the largest poster record was we always wanted the world to see our idol on a larger than life canvas, just like his persona.”
