The longest National Hockey League (NHL) shootout lasted 15 rounds. Marek Malik (Czechoslovakia) scored the winning goal on the 30th attempt with a trick shot fooling Olaf Kolzig (Germany) to give the New York Rangers a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals (both USA) at Madison Square Garden in New York (USA) on 25 November 2005.
