Hardy has been named a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of his service to the City of Hampton. He began his career as an administrative assitant to the County Manager, aged 19 years. A colleague stated that Hardy, now aged 82 years, "continues to contribute his service, expertise, and historical knowledge to the Hampton Community, and he continues to to touch lives in many ways outside of the business walls with his commitment to people."
