Officially verified in August 2011 as the world’s largest console gamepad, this fully functional NES pad measures an enormous 366 cm x 159 cm x 51 cm (12 ft x 5 ft 2.59 in x 1 ft 8 in). Its main creator is engineering student Ben Allen, who was helped by Stephen van’t Hof and Michel Verhulst, all of whom study at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The fantastic facsimile is 30 times the size of a standard NES controller, and requires gamers to navigate its enormous buttons. If you wanted to use this like a standard handheld pad, you would need to be 51 m (167 ft) tall – the same height as London landmark Nelson’s Column!
