The largest bead mosaic measures 71.33 m² (767 ft² 113.7in²), and was achieved by Stephan Wanger's Bead Town, with the support of the Gary Community School Corporation and the Legacy Foundation (all USA), in Gary, Indiana, USA, on 15 May 2017.
The mosaic depicted a Mardi Gras parade scene in New Orleans, titled "Life in the French Quarter." It featured more than 5 million beads assembled over the course of 3 years with the help of more than 2,500 volunteers. Consisting of 16 panels, the "parade" depicted such luminaries with New Orleans connections as Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, and Tennessee Williams.
