The Flavian amphitheatre, better known as the Colosseum, of Rome, Italy, covers an area of 2 hectares (5 acres) and has a spectator capacity of 87,000. It has a maximum length of 189 m (620 ft) and a maximum width of 156 m (511 ft). Construction was completed in 80 CE.
The Historic Centre of Rome, of which the Colosseum is an iconic landmark within, was inducted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
