Gil Bretschneider and Peer Schepanski (both Germany) rode their mountain bikes at an altitude of 7,211 m. (23,658 ft.) on the slopes of the Muztagata peak in the Xinjiang province of China, on 10 July 2009. The challenge started on 23 June 2009 where they were at an altitude of 5,350 m, On 26 June they were at 6,170 m and when they beat the record on the 10 June 2009 they reached an altitude of 7,211 metres.
