China spent $102 billion (£63 billion) on tourism in 2012 – more than any other country. This represents an increase of 37% on the country's 2011 spending. Germany's tourists spent the next largest amount internationally – $83.8 billion (£51.8 billion) – with the USA third, spending $83.5 billion (£51.6 billion).
The countries who spent most on tourism in 2012 were, in order: China, Germany, the USA, the UK, the Russian Federation, France, Canada, Japan, Australia and Italy.
