The first woman to complete an unsupported ski journey to the North Pole was Tina Sjögren (Sweden) who, along with husband Thomas Sjögren, made the journey in 68 days from 22 March to 29 May 2002. They made the journey from Ward-Hunt Island in Canada's Northwest Territories and received no external support.
