Microsoft was founded on 4 April 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen (both USA), then just 19 and 22 years of age respectively. They released their first operating system, Xenix, in 1980. The dominance of Microsoft began with a deal with IBM to provide an operating system for their first microcomputer, and the Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS) was introduced in 1981.
