The fastest marathon by a marching band is 6 hr 56 min 48 sec and was achieved by the Huddersfield Marathon Band (UK) at the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon in London, UK, on 13 April 2014. This Huddersfield based band originally set this record at the 2011 London Marathon. However, after having their record broken in 2011 by a German marching band, Mike Lomas and his team returned to London to reclaim their crown. The 22 members of the band were the last of 30 record breakers to cross the finish line of the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon and have their attempt verified onsite by Guinness World Records.
