The most siblings to have climbed Everest is seven, a record shared by two families.

On 12 May 1992, Nim Temba Sherpa (aka Nima Temba Sherpa, Nepal, b. 27 July 1959), the second son of nine children born to Nima Tsiri Sherpa and Pema Futi Sherpa, reached the top of Everest – the world’s highest mountain, at 8,848 m (29,029 ft). By 23 May 2007, all other male siblings had followed suit: Nima Gombu Sherpa (Nepal, b. 28 January 1969) on 9 October 1993, Mingma Tsiri Sherpa (aka Mingma Tshering Sherpa, Nepal, b. 1 August 1970) on 12 May 1995, Ang Tsiri Sherpa (aka Ang Chhiri Sherpa, Nepal, b. 1 October 1958, d. 12 June 2006) on 5 May 1999, Pasang Tenzing Sherpa (Nepal, b. 1 October 1984) on 26 May 2003, Thundu Sherpa (Nepal, b. 18 February 1978) on 26 May 2003 and Pema Tharke Sherpa (Nepal, b. 19 May 1961) on 23 May 2007. The sibling's father, Nima Tsiri Sherpa, started the family's climbing tradition when Edmund Hillary hired him as the "mail runner" for his expedition on Everest. The family also includes two daughters: Ngami Sherpa (fourth child) and Lakpa Futi Sherpa (seventh child).

Eleven years later, on 23 May 2018, the record was equalled by the offspring of Chhiring Nurbu Sherpa and Kimjung Sherpa (both Nepal), when the fifth of their ten children, daughter Dawa Diki Sherpa (Nepal, b. 21 September 1982), successfully climbed Everest via the South Col with her three brothers Pemba Dorje Sherpa (Nepal, b. 27 April 1977), Phurba Tenjing (aka Tenzing) Sherpa (Nepal, b. 23 May 1988) and Phurba Thiley Sherpa (Nepal, b. 1 May 1995). While this was Dawa Diki Sherpa’s first Everest climb, six of her brothers had already climbed Everest before: Pemba Dorje Sherpa and Pemba Gyalzen Sherpa (Nepal, b. 17 March 1972) on 17 May 2000, Phurba (aka Furba) Thundu Sherpa (Nepal, b. 26 October 1973, d. 14 October 2006) on 18 May 2004, Nima Gyalzen Sherpa (Nepal, b. 9 August 1985) on 2 June 2005, Phurba Tenjing Sherpa on 8 May 2007, and Phurba Thiley Sherpa on 22 May 2017. Two more daughters, Pasang Futi Sherpa and Lhapa Diki Sherpa, and one more son, Sonam Temba Sherpa, complete the family.
