The largest gathering of people wearing mismatched socks consists of 933 participants, achieved by Tailgating Against Cancer (USA) at Coulter Grove Intermediate School, Maryville, Tennessee, USA, on 27 April 2018.
Proceeds from the attempt will be directed towards creating a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute, in posthumous honour of a young baseball player named Stephen Coleman.
