The first single to enter US Hot 100 chart on download singles sales alone was 'Peacekeeper' by Fleetwood Mac (UK/USA) in March 2003.

Written and co-produced by Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, "Peacekeeper" debuted at No.93 on the Hot 100 dated 29 March 2003.

The download was offered at fleetwoodmac.com for $1.49 (94p). It registered 1,500 paid downloads in the first week.

"Peacekeeper" charted one week before Madonna's "American Life" became the second download-only track to enter the Hot 100.

The track went on to peak at No.80 on the chart dated 17 May 2003.
