William Lawlis Pace (USA, b. 27 February 1909) was accidentally shot in October 1917, aged eight, in Wheeler, Texas, USA. The gunshot accident caused Mr Pace a facial disfigurement, total hearing loss in his right ear and near blindness in his right eye. Despite these disabilities, he lived a normal, very productive life – a constant inspiration to his family and friends. By the time he died on 23 April 2012 – at a nursing home in Turlock, California, USA, at the age of 103 – the bullet had remained in his head for 94 years and at least 175 days.
