The world's largest pistachio marzipan sweet weighed 4.1984 tonnes (9,255 lb 14 oz) and was made by 225 chefs in an event organised by Spacetel Syria at Hamadanya Stadium, Aleppo, Syria on 1 July 2003.

Other dimensions are: Length 16.4 m (53 ft 9 in), width 12.2 m (40 ft 0.3 in), thickness 1.6 cm (0.6 in) and volume 32 m³ (1,130 ft³). The ingredients and approximate amounts used: Pistachio nuts 120 kg (264 lb), glucose 3 tonnes (6,613 lb), almonds 1.5 tonnes (3,306 lb), vanilla 2 kg (4.4 lb), water 630 litres (138 gallons) and bitter orange flower water. The sweet was made following a template of 270 pieces, and then sealed together as one big cake. The 225 chefs from all over Syria were hand-picked for the event, with a further 25 chefs as back up. The record was attempted as part of the launch of Spacetel Syria's pre-paid mobile phone system, called 'Ana' (meaning 'I') and used pistachio nuts that are a popular local produce in Aleppo. The sweet was then decorated with green, orange and white glazing in order to recreate the logo for this new system. K.Lacey witnessed the whole event.
