US Swimmer and world record holder Rebecca Soni continued a reign of excellence at the 2012 Olympics this week, as she broke the women's 200m breaststroke record not once -- but twice.
Soni first broke the women's 200m breaststroke record on Wednesday with a time of 2:20:00, and broke it again on Thursday with a time of 2:19:59.
In an interview with the BBC, Soni said she had been keeping a 2:19 time as a goal since high school.
With this gold medal, Soni became the first woman ever to win the 200m breaststroke in consecutive Olympics.
Soni earned a silver medal in the women's 100m breaststroke earlier in the week.
