For the record

  • Who: Jim Thome

  • What: Most walk-off home runs in a Major League Baseball career

  • Where: United States

The most walk-off home runs in a Major League Baseball career is 12, shared by six players, most recently Jim Thome (USA), who hit his most recent on 17 August 2010.

Thome joined Hall of Famers Jimmie Fox, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Stan Musial and Frank Robinson (all USA) with his game-winning home run over the Chicago White Sox on 17 August 2010. A walk-off home run is one which immediately ends the game in the favor of the team batting, allowing them to "walk off" the field as the winners.
