The city of Bergamo, along with other walled cities of the ancient Republic of Venice decided to apply to become UNESCO world heritage. The record attempt was to symbolize the walls embracing and was part of an events campaign to support their claim to the UNESCO.

People from all ages participated at this attempt, creating a 5 km long line of people hugging along the wall of Bergamo.
