Highest resolution optical image
Who
Lukas Novotny
What
2 nanometre(s)
Where
United States (Rochester)
When
The highest resolution image ever taken shows details smaller than 20 billionths of a metre across. Using a technique called near-field Raman scattering, a team led by Professor Lukas Novotny, University of Rochester, New York, USA, was able to image individual carbon nanotubes with visible light. The research was announced in March 2003.
