The longest painting measured 7,166 m (23,510 ft 5.98 in) and was achieved by 827 children on behalf of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (Eritrea), in Asmara, Eritrea, on 26 November 2011.
The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) organised this attempt to raise awareness for pollution, deforestation and desertification. The reason stated for making this attempt was to magnify the effort of the Government of the State of Eritrea and the Eritrean people to improve the wellbeing of the community. The painting took 300 hours to complete over the span of 57 days. This painting was measured in the presence of the five witnesses that were present throughout the creation of the painting. The painting took a total of 4 hours to measure by an independent surveyor. This painting was laid out on the road in Asmara, in Eritrea to be measured and inspected by the five witnesses as well as the general public.
