The heaviest deadlift with one finger is 129.50 kg (285.49 lb) and was achieved by Steve Keeler (UK) in Ashford, Kent, UK, on 13 February 2022.

Steve has been strength training for over 4 years and also has multiple martial art black belts. He first discovered he had good hand strength through Judo grips. Later, while strength training, he was playing about with some weights and lifted a set with one finger. After joking with his friends about what was on the bar he decided to look up what the record was and realised it was only 50 kg more than he had lifted, so began training towards an official Guinness World Records attempt.

In the end, he was able to beat the previous record - which had not been surpassed in 10 years - by just under 10 kg.

On achieving a Guinness World Records title, Steve said it means "so much!! My stepdad was my absolute hero and when I was a child, he came into my life and helped me with a problem I had with my bicycle. He brought a spanner round to get the pedal off my bike and he pushed that spanner so hard, he broke it!! He was into his strength training and this record would be in honour of all he taught me. He’d be absolutely chuffed to bits!! If I get a world record, I’ll be giving my mum the certificate."
