For the record

  • Who: Rogério Ceni

  • What: Most goals scored by a goalkeeper

  • Where: Brazil

Better known for scoring goals than saving them, São Paulo FC’s goalkeeper Rogério Ceni (both Brazil) netted his 100th career goal on 27 March 2011. The record-breaking strike was a long-range free kick that earned his side a 2–1 win over their fiercest rivals, Corinthians. Rogério has played for São Paulo since 1997 and his unusually prolific goal-scoring record is down to the fact that he regularly takes free kicks and penalties for his club.
