The heaviest onion weighs 8.195 kg (18 lb 1 oz) and was grown by Peter Glazebrook (UK). It was weighed at the Harrogate Flower Show in North Yorkshire, UK, on 13 September 2012.

Peter is a repeat GWR holder for his giant vegetables, having previously held the world record for an onion grown at last year's show. This year, at the Harrogate show, he won in every category of the giant vegetable competition. This is the first time that a onion has been grown that weighs over 18 lb
