In celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation, Great Wolf Lodge recently set a new Guinness World Records title for the Most people wolf howling.

To gather enough people for the attempt, an open invitation was extended to any guest who had the ability to howl.

An open event, all ages and both lodging guests and members of the public were welcome to participate.

On the day of the attempt, the Master of Ceremonies led the group in ‘Oh Canada’ to warm-up vocal chords and then the countdown began.

Assigned stewards supervised groupings of 50 people to ensure all participants performed the howl simultaneously for one full minute.

In total, 803 people were simultaneously contributed to a great big wolf howl, which broke the previous record of 294, achieved in Minnesota in 2013.

Guinness World Records Adjudicator Christina Conlon travelled from the US to oversee the event operation and ensure that official guidelines were followed.

Upon obtaining the record, Great Wolf Lodge Entertainment Coordinator, Craig Maguire said: “This event was two years in the making. I was so glad to see the number of people who showed up to participate. After all the planning, I can’t tell you how cathartic it was to finally hear the volume of all those wolf howls.”

As a bonus for participating, the first 150 people received Wolf Ears and all participant bib numbers were entered in a draw to win a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge.
