Employees of Norwegian ice-cream manufacturer Diplom-Is AS were recently invited to take part in a Guinness World Records attempt at the company’s annual teambuilding event in Strömstad, Sweden.

The organisers wanted to offer an activity that everyone could take part in and would stimulate pride in their work and the product they sell.

As a result, a dedicated team of 278 colleagues successfully achieved a new record for the Largest ice-cream scoop pyramid with a total of 5,435 scoops – more than 2,000 more than the previous record.

The structure weighed over 500 kg (1,102 lbs) and was approximately 1.1 m (3 ft 7 in) tall with 23 layers of ice cream.

Once the challenge was declared a triumph, the huge frozen treat was given out to local kids from Strömstad, who had come to watch the mouth-watering record attempt.
