Italian Cruise line Costa Crociere S.p.A. mixed up the Largest glass of spritzer ever during the recent trade event Protagonisti del Mare (Champions of the Sea), on board the Costa Favolosa cruise ship en route from Barcelona (Spain) to Marseille (France).
 
The giant cocktail contained a whopping 1,000.25 litres (220.02 UK gal; 264.24 US gal) of the alcoholic beverage.

667 bottles of sparkling wine, 333 bottles of Aperol and 167 bottles of tonic water were used for the spritzer. The delicious drink was then finished off with 15 giant ice-cubes and plenty of orange slices.

The glass was displayed on the cruise ship’s outside deck, and towered at 1.5 metres tall and 1.35 metres wide.
 
Guinness World Records adjudicator Lorenzo Veltri was on board to verify the attempt, and announced that Costa Crociere S.p.A.’s spritzer was almost double the size of the previous record-breaking drink.

Following the announcement, the Aperol spritz was distributed among the 3,000 guests as they celebrated.
 
Previously, the largest Spritzer was 573 litres (126.7 gal) and was prepared during an event organised by Filippo Lazzarin (Italy) at the Piazzagrande shopping centre in Piove Di Sacco (Italy) in 2010.
