At an event held to raise funds for Tŷ Olwen Hospice, and to celebrate Guinness World Records’ recent 60th birthday, restaurant/bar The Purple Badger in Swansea, UK set a hair-raising new record for the Most heads shaved in one hour.

It was a close shave, but barber Sam Ryan managed to completely shear 75 heads in just 60 minutes, narrowly beating the 73 haircuts which David Alexander (USA) achieved on the set of NBC’s “Today” in 2014.

The attempt was planned in memory of Clare Ellis - a regular customer of The Purple Badger who lost her hair following chemotherapy and very sadly passed away from cancer in 2013.
So far an incredible £3,000 has been raised for the hospice.

Taking place at Llanrhidian Holiday Park, Wales, Sam was encouraged by a cheering crowd and loud music as he endeavoured to shave each head in just 48 seconds.

Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Mr Pravin Patel oversaw the attempt, sending people back to the barber if their heads were not satisfactorily shaved in accordance with the guidelines. However, once the hour was over he was thrilled to confirm a new record to the mass of newly bald heads, and presented them with a certificate.
