With Paul Blart's favoured mode of transport being the Segway, ahead of hitting the red carpet, the film's star Kevin James led a crowd of participants to two suitably themed record titles.

First up was a successful attempt at the record for the largest Segway Lesson, with 108 participants riding the two-wheeled vehicles into the history books, followed up with another perfectly executed attempt for most people performing 360s on Segways simultaneously by the same amount of people.

The attempts formed part of a campaign which saw security guards from all over the city join the celluloid mall cop to celebrate National Security Guard Day, an event endorsed by New York City’s major Bill de Blasio.

Nationwide, citizens were encouraged to thank the work of these local unsung heroes in a viral campaign by downloading a special certificate with Kevin James’ signature from the film’s official Facebook page and by using the hashtag #NationalSecurityGuardDay and #BlartRidesAgain on Twitter.

"Meryl Streep has been nominated for 19 Academy Awards, winning three. I hold two Guinness World Records titles on a Segway. So, we're both doing well." expressed a thrilled Kevin James after receiving both achievements on behalf of New York City’s finest security guards.
