Broadcaster Discovery Italia presented Hair: Sfida All’Ultimo Taglio, the first talent show entirely dedicated to the fashionable world of hairdressing, with a Guinness World Records title for Largest gathering of people with a beehive hairstyle at Vetra’s theatre in Milan, Italy
The evening saw Discovery Italia make a piece of history as 261 girls from all over the city gathered to have their hair combed into a beehive haircut.
As stated in Guinness World Records guidelines, the beehive is a woman’s hairstyle in which hair is piled high atop the head to resemble the shape of a beehive.
Originated during the sixties, this trendy coiffure has been popularised in recent years by artists like Beyonce or Amy Winehouse, among many other celebs.
A total of 48 hairstylists took part in the event combing the hair of the 261 girls over four hours.
The event was hosted by talent show presenter Costantino della Gherardesca with Aldo Coppola’s artistic director Adalberto Vanoni, and Toni&Guy’s co-founder Charity Cheah acting as witnesses to the attempt.
The live event, which was attended by over 500 members of the public, helping to raise awareness of Discovery Italia’s talent show which sees aspiring, young and highly competitive hairstylists go head to head for the title of Italy’s best amateur coiffeur ,with the prize of a contract of employment at hair saloon chain Toni&Guy for the winner.
