Hundreds of people joined forces to stand for peace in Mudanya Bursa, Turkey and broke a world record by creating the Largest floating human logo.

A remarkable 460 participants from the Municipalities of Mudanya, Hayri Türkyilmaz and Cumhur Aygün (all Turkey) waded into the Marmara sea from Kumyaka beach and created a spectacularly recognisable image of the peace symbol.

In order to attain the record title, everyone wore the same colour so that the overall image was one block of colour, and they remained still in the water for five minutes.

The united group came together in Mudanya as part of Turkey’s 93rd Victory Day celebrations. This is the day which commemorates the victory in the Battle of Dumlupınar – the decisive battle in the Turkish War of Independence back in 1922.

They impressively surpassed the previous record of 261 participants which was achieved at an event organised by Monaco Business Development and Ziyad Mazzawi Corporation (both Jordan) in the Dead Sea, Amman, Jordan, on 30 October 2014.

An official Guinness World Records adjudicator was on hand to verify the attempt and present the certificate.
