Car and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki Philippines Inc. wanted to make this year’s annual Raider R150 Summit more memorable than ever, so they decided to attempt a Guinness World Records title.
The event took place at the World Trade Center in Manila, Philippines and saw an incredible 4,178 Suzuki motorbike fans take part in the Largest road safety lesson.
In order to achieve the title, traffic signs and rules had to be included in the class which needed to last for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Suzuki Philippines President, Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, commented on the company's record-breaking achievement: “We have been creating history for the Philippines with our monumental wins at the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC). This time we would like to highlight our commitment to safety riding which is the core of our business. Setting the Philippines in world history books is one achievement that is an honor for Suzuki to host and a Guinness World Records title for the Largest road safety lesson is a testament to this.”
The event was held to celebrate the Japanese multinational corporation‘s Raider R150 motorcycle, the ‘Underbone King’.
More than 96 clubs attended the event and thousands of riders got involved with the activities throughout the day.
Once official Guinness World Records adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar confirmed the new record, there were performances from special guests including Filipino actress Kim Domingo and Filipino-American actress, model and singer Roxee B.
The previous record for the largest road safety lesson stood at 2,700 participants and was organised by Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. (India), in Nashik, India, on 19 January 2017.
