Ethiopian Airlines soared into the record books last month as 350 members of staff came together to set a new record for the Largest human image of an airplane.

The attempt, which took place at Addis Ababa Airport was in celebration of the airline taking delivery of Africa’s first Airbus 350 XWB, marking an important milestone for the region’s aviation industry.

Guinness World Records adjudicators were on hand to verify the record attempt which saw Ethiopian Airlines staff members form the wing span of an Airbus A350.

With each participant carefully measured for arrangement and numeric accuracy, Ethiopian Airlines successfully organised enough of its employees in bright yellow uniforms to set the new benchmark for the title.

The huge new aircraft which inspired the record has been nicknamed by staff as “Semien Mountain”, in reference to a local landmark.

Ethiopian Airlines successful attempt beat the previous benchmark of 342, which had been set by the Asahi Shogakusei Shinbun Kids’ Challenge Project in Tokyo back in March.

After breaking the record by eight participants, Ethiopian Airlines now stands as the fastest growing, leading, and record-holding pan-African Airline.
