An incredible new record was confirmed at Baysports Boat Training and Water Sports Centre in Athlone, Ireland last weekend, where it was announced that the water park officially contains the Tallest floating slide in the world.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Jack Brockbank determined that the park’s latest attraction measures a vast 6.52 metres from the ground to the top of the slide, and 12.54 metres to the top of the entire structure – high enough to make even the biggest thrill seekers feel nervous.

Measuring the tallest floating slide

Users are required to climb up five stages to get to the top of the intimidatingly-tall slide.

Floating in just 3 cm of water, the supersize waterslide weighs more than two tons.

Mr Richie O Hara, founder and director of Baysports, said: “We have endeavoured to improve our offering every year, and our latest addition not only adds to the thrill of the park but also helps to focus attention on this region and the multiplicity of offerings that visitors can find here.

He continued: “The richness of our history and landscape is something everyone in this country should be proud of and the opportunity to present it in an ecologically, friendly and sustainable way for visitors and locals alike to enjoy is something we are delighted to be contributing to and be part of.”
