To celebrate National Women in Engineering Day 2015, 864 men and women gathered in the Horse Guards Parade, London to attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the Most people performing a jumping high five simultaneously.
 
There was a cheery atmosphere when an impressive 432 pairs high-fived – breaking the previous record of 150 pairs that L’Oreal Proffessional Products (UK and Irelend) achieved earlier this year.

The event was put on by Transport for London, Siemens and telent to acknowledge all that women have achieved in the engineering sector, as well as to draw attention to the industry and its opportunities.
 
The main sponsors of the event, Siemens and telent employ apprentices and trainees as part of their efforts to promote engineering in the UK.
 
Footage shot during the event will be used to produce a short film that will be available to professionals within the industry as well as schools to encourage interest in engineering.

Speaking of the record-breaking triumph, Kerri Rogan, Head of Corporate Affairs at Transport for London said, “It was fantastic to see so many people from every corner of our industry take part in the Guinness World Records title attempt. Not only were people having fun, but it really put the spotlight on women in transport, engineering and technology roles.”
