The Smile of the Child is a Greek registered NGO that has been active in the field of child protection and children’s rights since 1996.

The collectible wishing cards used in the attempt were also available for visitors to buy at the The Smile of the Child store, operating at the shopping mall’s 1st level.

The free of charge store’s provision has proved an important and essential act of support from The Mall Athens to the NGO, underpinning the activities it organises on a national level.

Participants who left their wishes were also entered into a prize draw to win an A-Class Mercedes-Benz car.

The successful record attempt was confirmed during an event on 21 November 2015, opened to the public, hosted by TV presenter Maria Bekatorou that also featured DJs and live performances.

Located close to the Athens Olympic Stadium in the suburb of Maroussi, the Mall Athens was first opened to the public on November 25, 2005.

One of the first shopping malls of its kind to be constructed in Greece it is also one of the largest shopping and leisure centres in Southeastern Europe.
