After a gripping game against West Virginia on Monday, fans in the stands set out to beat the UK Wildcats record of 126.4 decibels.

A tough number to beat, the title has previously not been broken since fans of NBA professional team Sacramento Kings set it back in 2013.

But now in less than the space of one month, the record has been broken twice between two rival basketball teams keeping up a game of friendly competition.

With a confirmed total of 130.4 decibels, belting Jayhawks fans achieved the booming new standard.

The attempt took place at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas (USA) where thousands of excited fans decked in blue gathered to break the record.

This isn’t the first time KU Jayhawks supporters have broken a record for their passionate fandom.
