Welcome to the Guinness World Records Italian Show – a weekly video series which features the most astonishing, shocking and awe-inspiring record attempts from the seventh series of Italy’s Lo Show Dei Record.
In this week’s episode, Hafthór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson (Iceland) – who is best known for playing Gregor “The Mountain” in the HBO series Game of Thrones – takes on the 2014 world’s strongest man Zydrunas Savickas (Lithuania) in the pair’s fourth record battle on the Italian TV show.
Competing for the Highest beer keg toss (male), both challengers had two attempts at throwing a heavy beer keg over a bar - similar to what is used in high jump (but a lot higher).
The Game of Thrones actor managed to launch the 12.32 kg beer keg an impressive 8.05 metres (26 ft 4.93 in) into the air, successfully breaking his previous record of 8.00 metres (26 ft 2.96 in).
27-year-old Thor is competing to become Europe's strongest man this weekend. The Icelandic strongman promises more sporting success for the small country after the Iceland football team exceeded expectations in Euro 2016.
