Each week here on guinnessworldrecords.com, we’ll be dipping into our extensive video library to bring you a classic piece of record-breaking action.

To celebrate the start of this year’s Wimbledon tournament, Guinness World Records is sharing a suitably tennis themed record attempt from our video archive: Most tennis balls caught in one minute.

Australia’s most decorated record breaker Anthony Kelly caught an incredible 43 tennis balls on the set of Australia Smashes Guinness World Records at the Warringah Mall in Sydney, Australia, on 14 January 2010 – breaking the previous record by an impressive 10 balls.

The current record for the most tennis balls caught in one minute is 47 and was achieved by serial record breaker Ashrita Furman (USA) in Jamaica, New York, USA, on 17 August 2014.

Anthony – who is a qualified martial artist – holds a huge number of current Guinness World Records titles including Most coach qualifications (14), Most candles extinguished with a single martial arts kick (15), Most paintballs caught in two minutes (28) and Fastest tennis ball caught (119.86 mph - pictured below).
