On World Monopoly Day last weekend, an incredible 605 participants successfully broke the Guinness World Records title for the Most people playing Monopoly (single venue) at Universal Studios Singapore, in Singapore.

Celebrating the 81st birthday of real-estate tycoon character Mr Monopoly, a mix of families, friends and social groups got together across the New York and Sci-fi areas of the theme park to play the latest Monopoly Empire board game.
 
They broke the previous record of 585 which was achieved by high school Wycombe Abbey (UK), in High Wycombe, UK, in December last year.

Jason Horkin, Senior Vice President for Attractions at Resorts World Sentosa commented on the incredible achievement: “We are honoured that Universal Parks and Resorts is featured, for the first time, as one of the brands in the latest Monopoly Empire game. To celebrate this, we partnered with Hasbro Singapore to successfully break a Guinness World Records title for most people playing a Monopoly game in a single venue, on World Monopoly Day.”

Mr Monopoly himself attended the mass participation event to encourage the players, and Transformers characters Optimus Prime and Bumblebee came along for additional support.
