Super-fit Aussie Eva Clarke added three more Guinness World Records titles to her mounting collection last week when she set a record for the Most pull ups in 24 hours (female) with a staggering 3,737 reps – also snapping up the one hour (725) and 12 hour (2,740) records in the process.
The gruelling attempt took place at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, UAE as part of the shopping centre’s ‘cause:health’ initiative which aims to support and promote well-being, fitness and social development in the region.
Eva was required to perform each rep according to the strict Guinness World Records guidelines that apply to all pull ups titles. This meant raising her body until the chin was above the level of the bar and then lowering down until her arms were straight, with no bending at the waist.
Official adjudicator Samer Khallouf was on hand to verify the attempt and present the mother-of-three with her certificates once the strenuous 24-hour period was finally over.
The challenge raised over USD $14,600 for Task Brazil - an NGO that runs residential care for children and young people living on the street in Brazil.
Mr. Mohammed Nauman Thakur, General Manager, Al Wahda Mall commented: “We salute the dedication and passion with which Eva Clarke has undertaken this challenge. We are very proud of her achievements and the accolades she brings herself. Al Wahda Mall acknowledges and appreciates the vital role that a woman plays in today’s society. Since International Women’s day and Mother’s Day is celebrated in the month of March the mall dedicates this month for Women. We are very pleased to have been supporting this noble cause.
Eva's fitness career began when she joined the Australian army in 1998, and since then the successful trainer has gone on to accomplish numerous workout feats including: Fastest marathon carrying a 40 lb back pack (female) (4 hr 34 min 42 sec), Most burpees in 24 hours (female) (12,003) and Most knuckle push ups in one minute (female) (70).
