With a year packed full of amazing world record achievements drawing to a close, Guinness World Records is taking a month-by-month look back over the most impressive, exciting and game-changing accomplishments that have happened in 2016.
 
May 2016 had a particular number of extraordinary records, showcasing several remarkable titles that get broken on rare occasions.
 
Leading the list, was our newest record holder for the Oldest person living (female)
 
After the world said goodbye to previous record holder, 116-year-old Susannah Mushatt Jones (USA), Guinness World Records announced that Emma Martina Luigia Morano of Italy, was the next title holder for the category.

Emma was graciously presented her title by adjudicator Marco Frigatti, in her home and is believed to be the only person left still alive who was born in the 19th Century. 
 
 

Across the globe in the USA, many got cozy with the Backstreet Boys for the record Most nationalities in a Jacuzzi


 


There, several people from Ireland to Argentina enjoyed a achieving a title with the popular 2000's boy band, while aboard the Royal Caribbean's 'Brilliance of the Seas', on the Mediterranean Sea.

In mid-May, prolific speed-eating record holder Furious Pete, tried his hand at two record titles.  


For the first he visited our New York City headquarters to complete Most gyoza dumplings eaten in one minute while broadcasted on Facebook Live. 


Impressively, he gulped down 10 dumplings in that time span. 
 
The following day, he racked up the courage to go up against American UFC Featherweight fighter Dennis "The Menace" Bermudez, rapper Logic, YouTuber Tommy “FaZe Temperrr” Oliveira, and model Brittney Palmer for the title Fastest time to drink one liter of lemon juice through a straw.  
 
It’s arguably one of our most difficult but entertaining challenges of the year. 
 


During the NBA’s post-season, incredible point guard Steph Curry became the First unanimous winner of NBA regular season MVP award.


Continuing with amazing triumphs, 250 chefs in Naples (Italy) put their minds and dough together to make the world's Longest pizza

Finishing the month on a high note, Pizza Hut and Yum! Brands showed their passion for pizza when they achieved the Highest altitude pizza delivery on land.

In a matter of three days, General Manager of Pizza Hut Africa Randall Blackford, a group of employees and a team of experienced guides climbed 5,897 m (19,347 ft) up the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to celebrate the opening of the first Pizza Hut location in Tanzania.
