Despite the incredible ground covered, Kurt has still only traversed 16.78% of the way towards his final destination - the area that forms the “edge" of the game's “infinite" map known as the Far Lands - a goal that some have estimated will take him another 20 years to reach.

Kurt's epic adventure originally began as a hobby. However, videos of his Minecraft adventuring soon began to develop a following on YouTube, with his channel eventually attracting over 200,000 subscribers. He now uses his quest to raise money for charity.

In the video below, the wanderer tells of his ambitious plans to keep travelling forward in the game and in turn raise his record number – while explaining: “Notch (Minecraft’s creator) said it would be impossible to reach the Far Lands so I took that as a challenge!”

Kurt appears in Guinness World Records 2016 Gamer’s Edition which is out now. To find out more about the book and pre-order your copy, head to www.guinnessworldrecords.com/2016
