It’s national crush-a-can day this Sunday, a day which was introduced to encourage recycling. So, this week, we’re returning to the set of Zheng Da Zong Y - Guinness World Records Special in Beijing, China, 2010, where Xu Qicheng (China) crushes 10 cans and a world record.

Unfazed by the roar of an excited audience and onsite official adjudicator Kristian Teufel, Xu catapults himself into the record books by achieving the Most cans hit in one minute with a slingshot, raising the previous number by two.

Since this incredible attempt, the record has gone on to be broken on two occasions, most recently by Michael McClure (USA), at the East Coast Slingshot Tournament in Alverton, Pennsylvania, USA on 8 June 2013, who raised the total to 13.

Another live-on-TV can-crushing feat was achieved by René "Golem" Richter (Czech Republic) who smashed The most drinks cans crushed with the hands in one minute (17) during the broadcast of Das Sommerfest der Abenteuer (ARD Germany), in Magdeburg, Germany, in 2012.
