Multiple record-breaker Sir Richard Branson has made history once again, this time with another world record involving his favourite sport kitesurfing.

The 63-year-old set a new record for most people riding a kitesurf board during an attempt last month off the shoreline of his private island of Necker in the Caribbean.

Spurred on as part of a dare by his friend and German champion kitesurfer Susi Mai, Sir Richard was joined on a single board by Alice Galliers (UK), Alison DiSpaltro (USA) as well as Susi to set the record.

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday said “We enjoy working with Richard on his quests to add further records to his already growing list and we’re delighted to announce that he has achieved another one! His passion for kitesurfing as well as oceanic related records is truly inspiring and we eagerly await what he has planned for the future”.

The British entrepreneur currently already holds the record for oldest person to cross the English Channel by kiteboard after travelling from Dymchurch, Kent, to Wimereux in northern France in three hours and 45 minutes last July.

Branson also holds records for the Richest presenter of reality television and also for Most followers on LinkedIn.
