Firenze Rugby 1931 ASD took the ball and ran with it.

The rugby club from Florence, Italy, and its record for most participants in a touch/mini/tag rugby exhibition match scored the try in last week's Fan Choice, swiping 49.26% of all votes.

The 336 men, women, and children who took the pitch will now be entered in our list of contenders for a year-end showdown in which we'll ask you fans to vote for your favorite record of the year at the end of 2013.

Time now to meet this week's candidates and then cast your vote below. This week sees amazing athletic achievements both explosive and long-lasting, plus an impressive use of a snare drum. But first, you might want to grab your reading glasses -- the strongest ones you have.

SMALLEST PRINTED BOOK (pictured above)

Record: 0.74 x 0.75 mm (0.0291 x 0.0295 in)

Holders: Toppan Printing Co., Ltd Printing Museum (Japan)

Location: Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan

That's not all: The miniscule manuscript, titled "Flowers of the Four Seasons," consists of 22 pages, in which readers can - as the title implies - follow photos of various flowers throughout the four seasons of the year. To date, 149 of the 250 copies printed have been sold.

MOST AZTEC PUSH-UPS IN ONE MINUTE

576796.jpg

Record: 31 push-ups

Holder: Brandon Collofello (USA)

Location: Joliet, Illinois, USA

That's not all: An Aztec push-up consists of starting in a standard push-up position and dropping your chest toward the floor like any other push-up. But then, you must launch your entire body off the floor, so as to touch your toes in mid-air (like Collofello in the photo above), before landing again in the starting position. Not your average gym move! Check back later in the month for our July sports blog, where we'll feature exclusive video of this attempt.

LONGEST MARATHON PLAYING WIFFLEBALL

576342.JPG
Record: It says it right there on the clock, but: 25 hr 4 min, 53 sec

Holders: The two teams of four consisted of Bobby, Corey, and Tony DeAngelis with Jackie Turro (Red Team) against Mike Behling, Shane Caveney, Chris Hill, and Chris Edwards (Blue Team).

Location: Fontaine Field, Norwich, Connecticut, USA

That's not all: Across the more than 24 hours of activity, the teams totaled 150 innings. The officially titled Rutland Country Store Red team, led by attempt organizer Bobby DeAngelis, cruised past the Rutland Country Store Blue team by a final score of 334-251. The attempt also raised money for the Special Olympics of Connecticut.

LONGEST LINE OF DECORATED EGGS

577198.JPG

Record: 13,623 eggs

Holder: City of Osterholz-Scharmbeck (Germany)

Location: Mencke school sports hall, Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany

That's not all: Not surprisingly, the city decided to attempt this record as a way to celebrate Easter. Egg decorations included acrylic paint, lacquer, and knitted wool. With the eggs all laid in a row and each touching, the chain stretched to an incredible 771.9 m (2,532 ft 5 in)!

LONGEST GROUP DRUM ROLL

577072.jpg

Record: 28 hr 19 min 03 sec

Holder: Students of Big Rapids High School

Location: Big Rapids, Michigan, USA

That's not all: Guidelines required that the same individual snare drum be played at all times and two participants were allowed to drum at once whenever one drummer changed over to the next. The group consisted of 18 drummers and the attempt helped raise $7,600 (£4,980) for the school, which the students put toward purchasing new marching drums.
