A huge gathering of gamers proved the popular choice in last week’s Fan Choice Record of the Week, with Team Karnataka from India’s record for Largest mobile phone gaming party taking an impressive 55 per cent of votes.

Their achievement will now be entered in our list of contenders for a year-end showdown in which we'll ask you fans to vote for your favorite record of the year at the end of 2013.

Time now to meet this week's candidates and then cast your vote below. It's a very eclectic group this week, and we start with a symbol of friendship.

Longest chain of bracelets (pictured above)

Record: 7,507 friendship bracelets

Holder: Ross Elementary School (USA) Grades K-6 students

Location: Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA

That's not all: The photo above shows all of the friendship bracelets wrapped together before they were unspooled into their chain. In the end, the chain spanned 2,678 ft (816.26 m), with students and staff spending six months creating the bracelets to promote anti-bullying.

Largest light and sound show on a single building

Record: 46,641.52 m² (502,405.1 sq. ft)

Holders: Sun Hang Kai Properties Ltd. (Hong Kong)

Location: International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong, China

That's not all: The show, a variation of which is featured in the video above, took place on two sides of the building, with sound pumped throughout speakers across Victoria Harbour and also available through a mobile app. The ICC Tower is currently the fifth-tallest building in the world at 484 m (1,587.9 ft) high.

Most runners linked to complete a half marathon

Record: 103 runners

Holder: Team LifeStriders (USA)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

That's not all: The group raised $30,000 (£19,627.70) for LifeStriders, a charity that helps children with special needs enjoy equine therapy. All linked by ropes and karabiners, the team's final runner crossed the finish line in 3 hr 00 min 53 sec.

Most cars performing donuts simultaneously

Record: 107 rubber-burners

Holder: Latvian Drift Association (Latvia)

Location: Bikernieki Sports Complex, Riga, Latvia

That's not all: Each car was required to perform donuts for at least 10 seconds together. The 107 drivers represented seven different countries, with participants from Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Largest rice ball mosaic

Record: 113.96 m² (1,226.65 ft²)

Holder: World's Largest Rice Ball Mosaic Art Project (Japan)

Location: Shibuya Public Hall, Japan

That's not all: The image consisted of 31,100 onigiri rice balls in six different colors. Organizers stated they attempted the record to raise awareness of the suitability of rice from the Fukushima region of Japan, in which a nuclear power plant infamously exploded after an earthquake struck the nation in March 2011.
