Record-breakers in the news today

Veteran actor Harrison Ford has revealed that he and his original "Star Wars" co-stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are on the brink of officially signing on for JJ Abram's reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise.

"I think it's almost true, I'm looking forward to it," the 70-year-old star told Chicago's WGN-TV.

"It's not in the bag yet, but I think it's happening."

In 1998, Ford set the record for highest annual earnings for a film actor, after earning $58 million (£35 million).

The current holder is Tom Cruise, who according to Forbes earned $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012.
